Day 23: Intrepidations

We woke up early again to make it out to the Intrepid museum and to spend a little time in MOMA (a personal dream of mine).
The boys were in good spirits even after having been up all night the night prior.

Intrepid was enormous! There is no way to get a full photograph of the entire ship so you will have to trust that I was actually there.

First at the museum we saw the USS Growler, a submarine with guided missiles. Totally different in style and utilization.

They also had an exhibit running on drones.

And then it was the Intrepid. On board we saw all kinds of exhibits. We didn’t even touch all of it. I was very impressed. Totally worth a trip to New York City in itself.

So cool to see the planes folded up in an actual hangar.

Aunt Macky gave us a great tour of New York and stuck with us the whole time. Thank you Aunt Macky!
Intrepid was also used to rescue some of the Mercury missions. Kind of makes it more awesome that it holds the Enterprise now.

They had a “sinking” feeling on the Intrepid’s airplane elevator. *wink wink*
We also were able to watch an amazing video presentation about the lives lost when kamikaze planes took out some of the flight deck during WWII. It was very moving. Next on the flight deck was the Space Shuttle Enterprise! An orbiter vehicle used prior to the space flights.

Then it was time to go but not before a quick run through of the planes and helicopters on the flight deck.

And then it was time for lunch. It was hard but I got a few pics for you Jason. It was crazy fantastic Thai food.

Then off to MOMA!
So I don’t like taking pictures of other’s art but I did get a few pics of the Jude appreciating it.

Jude learned that he loved Robert Rauschenberg’s art and was excited to put his own spin on the style at home.
And then the boys left James and I to go to see Spiderman. James and I with a few hours to kill went to see Hello Dolly! The theatre was gorgeous inside!
