Day 6: Technicolor!

Today we went south out of West Yellowstone and our previous day’s experience was clouded with the disturbing mass of people. It was SO crowded. We pushed through the traffic jams, the lack of parking and the hordes of tourists to make it to the seemingly more popular side of the park.

The reason for the traffic jams

The first place we ventured into was Fountain Paint Pots. There we saw all 4 types of features: geysers, springs, vents, and paint pots.

Next up we decided to fight the crowds at the famous Old Faithful, the eruption was enormous. We stayed to watch the event twice! It was crazy cool to see a geyser shoot so high in the sky. So worth the stop! The boys also completed the Junior Ranger workbooks to earn their Yellowstone patch. Jude was so proud of himself when he got a selfie with the ranger who ran the Junior Ranger Program that they went to.

Then we were off to the Prismatic Springs. After a parking nightmare we were in! This was really the highlight of Yellowstone. This made the crowds worth it!

After a final dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Fowler, we started to break camp in order to head out in the morning after we get in some early fishing with Grandpa. Yellowstone has been a wonderful experience, and we definitely plan to come back and spend more time in this beautiful national park!
