Day 63: Roswell for Breakfast and Impromptu Zoo

So we started out today trying to find a breakfast joint somewhere in town. It turns out google maps doesn’t know where breakfast is because we ended up a mile out of Roswell talking to guard dogs and tripping in the ditch next to the road. But in looking for breakfast we discovered Roswell’s very own free zoo. They say that all the animals are rescued and they have plans on improving the park in the future. Even so it was fun to see!

Finally we made it back to the RV and just drove to breakfast. It was in a cute diner themed with Cowboy stuffs.

And Jimmy apparently was hungry, he ordered a “Starving Cowboy”

Then we headed out to Albuquerque, which I’m pretty sure is impossible to spell because the whole city shorthanded it to ABQ. I was perfectly okay with that.

Day 62: Take Me To Your Leader!

Miles Driven: 325

Total Miles: 8224

We made it to Roswell, NM, and we went straight to the aliens and the kitsch!  I loved how corny it was and there was even a reference to home! Before we got there we pulled off to get lunch at a little drive up place on the way.

After we were done at the museum our campground host had recommended we check out AlienZone’s, Area 51. Which was especially fun. Johnny got a real kick out of it!

Day 61: A trip to San Angelo–Why did we go there?

Miles Driven: 260

Total Miles: 7895

San Angelo was one place that a lot of people asked; why we were going there and what exactly is in San Angelo?

Well what we found was Fort Concho, a fort that was established in 1867. It was also the location where the “Buffalo Soldiers” were stationed here from 1875 to 1882.
