Day one started off great. We got packed up and on the road, leaving RV Northwest, by 3:00.
With one stop in Hood River for gas and a coffee - James managed to drive beautifully in a beautiful landscape. Windmill farms were a huge fascination for us all and the idea of being able to get up and do our business on the road kept all of the minions happy and comfortable.
We pulled in to Hood Park by 7:30 pm and the park hosts made a special exception and brought us firewood. The boys were shoo'ed to the park for setup and the RV finished being packed.
Right near the park was the Columbia River and the sun setting behind the buildings was gorgeous.
The boys were so excited to toss rocks into the river as boats jetted back and forth.
We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire that the boys made for us.
And watched the sun finish its route and the moon make a showing between the clouds as a goodnight wish for Day 2.
